Phantom
PERSONALITY At first Phantom is mostly quiet and reserved in the midst of strangers not liking to be the center of attention due to her unusual appearance, however once she warms up to those around her her personality blooms and her energy spikes, she becomes a boisterous ball of energy who wants to get along and make everyone happy. She is loyal to her pack and would do anything for them even if it meant sacrificing herself to protect them, especially the young pups or anyone too small to fend for themselves and is most often seen as motherly towards them, always looking to protect them from harms way. APPEARANCE Phantom is a medium sized doberman standing at 26 inches at the withers, her ears were cropped and tail was docked. Unlike most Dobbies she's not one of the original colors but is instead an off-white base with pure white points, her eyes are a pale blue and her little button nose is mostly pink with a darker pink speck on the very tip. There is a large scar going from the nape of her neck all the way down her left from leg until the top of her paw and a small, barely visible scar on her left ear. HISTORY Phantom was born in a litter of 6 pups destined to be trained and given to the military or police academies once they were of age, however when she came out different than the other pups her masters had no clue what to do with her. She couldn't be used as breeding stock as most dogs needed in this line of work needed to look fierce and aggressive to be able to hold humans at bay until the humans got the situation under control and decided instead of selling her to facilities that she would just be donated to the military instead who happily accepted the young dog. She was quickly placed with her new master and handle whom would take care of her after they were deployed and soon she began her training as a versatile dog that would be used in search and rescue, bomb detection and an overall guard dog over the base she was deployed too. Once she graduated all of her classes her and her master were soon deployed straight into the front lines of war along with the rest of their squadron. The head was unlike anything she ever felt and there was sand as far as the eye could see, nearly blinding Phantom the first time she laid her eyes upon the battlefield as they were brought into their new home. The first few days were physically and mentally draining despite not having to work on them, there was a real difference between the simulations back in boot camp and the actual reality of it all hitting you in the face. But, aside from getting sunburn if her master forgot to apply sunscreen to her body she wasn't hit as hard by the heat as the other dogs and she also blended in well with the sandy dunes. The days got easier until time flew and the next thing she knew months had passed since they arrived, as a team they became more proficient at their job until one day when Phantom and her handler were doing there routine bomb checks around the base. She was on a lead and probably about ten feet ahead of her master sniffing the ground and searching for any bombs that could've been planted the night before when all of a sudden the both of them heard a couple of beeps, her handler tried to yank on the leash and pull her back as she tried to run away from the sound when the side of the building they were both on exploded a couple feet away from Phantom sending her owner flying backwards and debris flying everywhere while the doberman collapsed onto the ground, the left side of her neck extending down her left leg cut open from the debris. She was taken back to the camp where they were able to safe her life, but after a couple of rest and recovery she was honorably discharged and back on a plane to the motherland. Phantom was taken straight to a facility who could never help her recover and one that would help her find a more permanent home for dogs with a military background. The young hound spent months going through physical therapy to gain full movement in her left leg while waiting for a home and like every other obstacle in her life she was able to gain most movement with a slight limp when she walks too long. Phantom found a home with a retired marine veteran who had just divorced his wife and was looking for a companion of sorts and life was looking good for awhile, yet no matter what she did to make her new owner happy she never seemed to be able to do so, until finally one day he took his own life and left the Doberman stranded with no where to go. At first Phantom waited with her deceased owner for days until hunger finally forced her to stray away and she snuck out of the house through the doggy door and jumped over the fence in the yard. She had no clue where she was going or what the world would throw at her next but the one thing she did know was if she didn't fend for herself she was going to waste away like her owner. |
